VISTA fellowships are full-time (35-40 hours/week) for one year. VISTA fellows receive a modest living allowance, health care benefits, child care benefits, a relocation allowance if they move more than 50 miles to serve at their site and training. After their year of service, they have a choice between an additional $1500 cash stipend or a $5,550 education award that can be applied to either the repayment of federal student loans or future education.
